I just reviewed the video from the March 18th City Council Meeting and must comment on the responses Mr. Pfaff provided regarding his eligibility to run for an elected office in Woodland Park. Tony Perry, a long-time City resident and an undisputed advocate for local businesses, asked Mr. Pfaff to simply provide relevant information regarding his residency claims prior to the City Council election in 2020. Mr. Pfaff stated this was not an issue and actually challenged Mr. Perry to prove his value to the community compared to his own contributions of ‘thousands’ of dollars to establish a business in town. How can Pfaff possibly think this was an answer to any question? It was an insulting and unknowing response and, failed to address the questions Mr. Perry presented. In a follow-up question, Carrol Harvey, another long-time resident of the City and former Council member, asked Mr. Pfaff to answer one question–‘Where did you live prior to May 26th, 2019?’ She also courageously revealed that she initiated an investigation with the District Attorney because she was concerned that Pfaff did not live in the City limits for an adequate amount of time prior to the Council elections in 2020. Pfaff, obviously irritated that the issue was not going to die for the evening, responded that it was none of Mrs. Harvey’s business where he lived prior to May 26th, 2019. Really? Of course, it was Mrs. Harvey’s business as a voter and the business of every resident of this City! Pfaff insisted that ‘top attorneys’ somewhere advised him his residency was secured prior to May 26th, 2019 because he provided ‘earnest’ money to a campground in the City. Really? Since when does a deposit equal residency? Pfaff refused to provide any reasonable or logical explanation other than he was ‘staying with friends.’ Really? Where? In Woodland Park? In Teller County? Or, back in Indiana where he supposedly owns a home (thus, not homeless). This guy has no regard for the citizens of this town as demonstrated by his ‘con’ that he lived in Woodland Park in 2019 long enough to qualify to run for office. He is disgusting. He must be recalled from office.”
“I’m very happy that so many other concerned citizens in my community feel the same way about ‘Dim-Jim.’ He was not & is not a part of our community. Perhaps if he sold his home in Indiana, he could afford to rent in Woodland Park. He is not homeless; he is a political drifter.
It would be awesome to have a “Recall Jim Pfaff” protest in front of the Bristlecone lodge.
It is very unsettling this man would fake homelessness in an effort to gain political office.
It is a slap in the face to actual homeless people. Homeless people do not own homes in other states, nor can they afford to open businesses in town, or pay costly lot rent in tourist towns. What Jim Pfaff is doing is truly manipulative. I’ve volunteered at Marion house in the Springs and the church on 17th street in Denver. I’ve also helped homeless people get identification at DMVs, taken them to doctor’s appointments and job interviews. I’d be willing to drive the homeless Jim Pfaff to the bank or DMV to obtain documents to prove he was indeed a resident of Woodland Park prior to April 2019.”
“This person should not be on the city council. He does not represent Woodland Park. He does not understand or care about recent or past history. He has bad-mouthed people I respect. He is and acts like a jerk.”
“There’s lots of talk about recalling Jim Pfaff. Where is the petition? Since he has not produced credible, verifiable evidence that he was a resident on April 9th, why hasn’t he been charged with perjury? Who is dragging their feet? And why?”
“Of course I read with great interest the Courier’s guest column by Mr. Pfaff. I read with greater interest the follow-on guest column and editorials by well-respected and significantly more well-learned members of our community. I mean, when a former councilmember and Mayor Pro-Tem, a former School Board President, and two engaged citizens denounce his false statements, I pay attention. Mr. Pfaff has clearly hitched his political wagon to people who choose to erroneously fill his head with lies that he repeats OR he has chosen for whatever reason to tell those lies himself. Either way does not reflect well on an elected leader’s judgment or commitment to this city and its citizens. He should leave.”
“Jim Pfaff has not lived in this community long enough to know much about Woodland Park. I do not trust him and I do not appreciate his attitude to residents, as well as others on the City Council. I do not appreciate him continuously attacking Mr. David Buttery. It is very uncouth. Jim Pfaff needs to go back to Indiana or Maryland or wherever it is he is from.”
“I support the recall effort 100%. He needs to go away.”
“I drove by the trailer space to confirm that Mr. Pfaff does in fact have an Indiana license plate. Not only does he have Indiana plates, why isn’t the trailer properly tagged and Colorado registration fees paid? The trailer’s plates expired on April 7, 2019. Nearing two years without paying registration fees, unlike real residents, are not how a council member sets ethical or proper examples for others to follow, unless his end goal is anarchy.”
“I had emailed Mayor Carr about Jim Pfaff’s behavior in a city council meeting. He was unprofessional, demeaning & rude to a citizen of Woodland Park. I expressed my concern to Mayor Carr that he should’ve shut down Pfaff immediately rather than allow him to continue being rude. (I’m hoping Mayor Carr was shocked by Pfaff’s behavior & that is why he allowed it to continue.) I let Mayor Carr know that I was not familiar with Mr. Pfaff yet but am concerned if this is his behavior towards citizens in WP. I’ve since seen his snarky responses to people he doesn’t agree with on WP FB pages & it just doesn’t represent the WP I’ve lived in for 23 years.”
“When has Pfaff ever spoken with his constituency? He is an outsider who is trying to impose his outsider views on us. Let’s get rid of him and anyone else who is not attuned to what ‘We the People’ want.”
“Wow! I just read his LinkedIn page which is a piece of Swiss Cheese with all the holes in it. Seems like Woodland Park is Mr. Pfaff’s next stepping stone and then on to his next fiasco. No wonder he thinks he can crap all over the place. He obviously has plans to move on. Otherwise, why does he continue to live in trailer in a campground?”
“The entire City Council needs to show professionalism. It also appears that some council members are being muted and cutoff. I suspect that may be against the rules.”
“Man I’ve had some epic arguments with that guy. He’s a carpetbagger and ideologue for sure. Thinks he’s God’s gift to Woodland Park, and we should all be in awe of his experience. Yet I haven’t heard one single good constructive idea come out of his mouth. He also has no idea what it means to ‘earn the right to be heard.’ Just thinks if he shouts enough, we’ll all back down. Oh and FYI … the ‘business’ he says he and his wife are building? It’s an Herbalife MLM distributorship.”
“I’m happy to hear this guy is being scrutinized. I don’t know a lot about him but from everything I have seen, he seems like an ass and an idiot, along with a couple more.”
“This is outstanding! Looking forward to seeing where it goes.”
“It was clearly evident in the 3 December Council meeting that, although spears were flying from all sides, disparaging remarks from Council Men were more accepted than those from Council Women. Apparently, it is okay for the men to disparage the women but not the other way around. It came to a head when the Mayor, Mr. Val Carr, Zoom-muted the Mayor Pro Tem, Ms. Hilary LaBarre, forcing her to vote with hand gestures. Of course, no amount of disparaging remarks are acceptable in a professional environment; however, the gender difference was notable once the circus side-show was underway.”
“Mr. Pfaff reiterated during the 3 December Council meeting that he supports the elimination of all zoning ordinances. As a homeowner and taxpayer in Woodland Park, I find this concept abhorrent. Smart city planning, with proper zoning, will contribute to the future vitality of this community.”
“I have been watching in AMAZEMENT that our counsel will not stop this MADNESS!! Actually, it’s the Mayor’s position to control the counsel and he will not lift a finger against Mr. Pfaff. They think alike! I think he IS NOT A RESIDENT, PERIOD. This creep that moves from town to town trying to change many great things in the community. And Val Carr Please, He can’t control the Counsel at all he just sits and watches the madness take place. I have said many times why won’t someone stand up AT COUNSEL and say NO more Bullying and disrespect. Who is this guy who lives in a van by the river? Ha. Transient Trouble maker I would say has no business on counsel.”
