Just saw the announcement that Pfaff is resigning from the council. Hopefully, he and Myra are also resigning from Woodland Park, Teller County, Colorado, and all parts west of Indiana. People immediately volunteered to help them hook up their RV and cheer them out of their campsite. Their sham/scam MLM business is only welcome here by other sham/scammers like Brovetto, and their minuscule clique of Charis Chult acolytes. After “30 years”(?) of pitiful adoration, poor Andrew will be crestfallen without Myra’s abiding devotion. GOOD TO KNOW that the nitwits and neophytes who backed him on the council will be unable to stupidly stumble into the needless expense of a special election.
I just reviewed the video from the March 18th City Council Meeting and must comment on the responses Mr. Pfaff provided regarding his eligibility to run for an elected office in Woodland Park. Tony Perry, a long-time City resident and an undisputed advocate for local businesses, asked Mr. Pfaff to simply provide relevant information regarding his residency claims prior to the City Council election in 2020. Mr. Pfaff stated this was not an issue and actually challenged Mr. Perry to prove his value to the community compared to his own contributions of ‘thousands’ of dollars to establish a business in town. How can Pfaff possibly think this was an answer to any question? It was an insulting and unknowing response and, failed to address the questions Mr. Perry presented. In a follow-up question, Carrol Harvey, another long-time resident of the City and former Council member, asked Mr. Pfaff to answer one question–‘Where did you live prior to May 26th, 2019?’ She also courageously revealed that she initiated an investigation with the District Attorney because she was concerned that Pfaff did not live in the City limits for an adequate amount of time prior to the Council elections in 2020. Pfaff, obviously irritated that the issue was not going to die for the evening, responded that it was none of Mrs. Harvey’s business where he lived prior to May 26th, 2019. Really? Of course, it was Mrs. Harvey’s business as a voter and the business of every resident of this City! Pfaff insisted that ‘top attorneys’ somewhere advised him his residency was secured prior to May 26th, 2019 because he provided ‘earnest’ money to a campground in the City. Really? Since when does a deposit equal residency? Pfaff refused to provide any reasonable or logical explanation other than he was ‘staying with friends.’ Really? Where? In Woodland Park? In Teller County? Or, back in Indiana where he supposedly owns a home (thus, not homeless). This guy has no regard for the citizens of this town as demonstrated by his ‘con’ that he lived in Woodland Park in 2019 long enough to qualify to run for office. He is disgusting. He must be recalled from office.”
“I’m very happy that so many other concerned citizens in my community feel the same way about ‘Dim-Jim.’ He was not & is not a part of our community. Perhaps if he sold his home in Indiana, he could afford to rent in Woodland Park. He is not homeless; he is a political drifter.
It would be awesome to have a “Recall Jim Pfaff” protest in front of the Bristlecone lodge.
It is very unsettling this man would fake homelessness in an effort to gain political office.
It is a slap in the face to actual homeless people. Homeless people do not own homes in other states, nor can they afford to open businesses in town, or pay costly lot rent in tourist towns. What Jim Pfaff is doing is truly manipulative. I’ve volunteered at Marion house in the Springs and the church on 17th street in Denver. I’ve also helped homeless people get identification at DMVs, taken them to doctor’s appointments and job interviews. I’d be willing to drive the homeless Jim Pfaff to the bank or DMV to obtain documents to prove he was indeed a resident of Woodland Park prior to April 2019.”
“I have lived in Woodland Park 34 years and Ute Pass 44 years. When is Woodland Park ever going to have a City Council/government that isn’t influenced by a good old boys system, politics, religion, and/or personal financial gain? I’m still waiting. And Jim Pfaff is the worst. The residency requirement needs to be more like 3 years. FYI – The house mentioned in Mesa, AZ on 2558 N. Rowan Circle is a residential property owned by the Alvarado’s. Interesting that Pfaff (still) uses that address.”
“My wife and I are homeowners and 23-year residents of Woodland Park. It is offensive to us that Jim Pfaff, a non-resident, just moved to our wonderful town, and purports to tell our long-time residents what to do. I totally support a recall effort against him.”
“Moved to this wonderful mountain town 2 years ago, I love everything about it excluding this ridiculous cartoon figure named Jim Pfaff. He shouldn’t be in any leadership role whatsoever. Who is against being nice to their fellow citizens?”
“I will help circulate the recall petition. We have awesome Candidates to fill his vacated seat. He needs to be excused (released) from our City Council because of his emotional lability demonstrated at the dais as well as other very public venues. He lies, he operates with hostility, aggression. He should’ve been relieved of his seat sooner. Very divisive, very poor leadership, and incompatible with established standards of WP City Council. He could redirect his energy towards behavioral health healing and making milkshakes at his wife’s business.”
“This person should not be on the city council. He does not represent Woodland Park. He does not understand or care about recent or past history. He has bad-mouthed people I respect. He is and acts like a jerk.”
“There’s lots of talk about recalling Jim Pfaff. Where is the petition? Since he has not produced credible, verifiable evidence that he was a resident on April 9th, why hasn’t he been charged with perjury? Who is dragging their feet? And why?”
“Of course I read with great interest the Courier’s guest column by Mr. Pfaff. I read with greater interest the follow-on guest column and editorials by well-respected and significantly more well-learned members of our community. I mean, when a former councilmember and Mayor Pro-Tem, a former School Board President, and two engaged citizens denounce his false statements, I pay attention. Mr. Pfaff has clearly hitched his political wagon to people who choose to erroneously fill his head with lies that he repeats OR he has chosen for whatever reason to tell those lies himself. Either way does not reflect well on an elected leader’s judgment or commitment to this city and its citizens. He should leave.”
“Jim Pfaff has not lived in this community long enough to know much about Woodland Park. I do not trust him and I do not appreciate his attitude to residents, as well as others on the City Council. I do not appreciate him continuously attacking Mr. David Buttery. It is very uncouth. Jim Pfaff needs to go back to Indiana or Maryland or wherever it is he is from.”
“I support the recall effort 100%. He needs to go away.”
“I drove by the trailer space to confirm that Mr. Pfaff does in fact have an Indiana license plate. Not only does he have Indiana plates, why isn’t the trailer properly tagged and Colorado registration fees paid? The trailer’s plates expired on April 7, 2019. Nearing two years without paying registration fees, unlike real residents, are not how a council member sets ethical or proper examples for others to follow, unless his end goal is anarchy.”
“I had emailed Mayor Carr about Jim Pfaff’s behavior in a city council meeting. He was unprofessional, demeaning & rude to a citizen of Woodland Park. I expressed my concern to Mayor Carr that he should’ve shut down Pfaff immediately rather than allow him to continue being rude. (I’m hoping Mayor Carr was shocked by Pfaff’s behavior & that is why he allowed it to continue.) I let Mayor Carr know that I was not familiar with Mr. Pfaff yet but am concerned if this is his behavior towards citizens in WP. I’ve since seen his snarky responses to people he doesn’t agree with on WP FB pages & it just doesn’t represent the WP I’ve lived in for 23 years.”
“Last night’s City Council meeting audio was conveniently edited/muted when Pfaff goes off on the City Manager. How is this legal?”
“As someone who is blessed to live and work in Woodland Park for the past twenty years who also wants to retire and die in Woodland Park, I cannot sit back and let this swamp creature continue to threaten our community.”
“I am saddened and angered that citizens did not pay attention when they voted in April. If voters had done their homework, they would’ve seen that Jim Pfaff was–and is–a fraud who pulled a fast one on us all. He certainly did his homework to find a loophole to appear to live in our community. But that is as far as he went. He never cared about why this city supported viable projects like our aquatic center and school district. He just assumed he could cram his agenda down our throats. Why in the hell did he choose our community to play out his political delusions? Well, get smart Woodland Park! Jim Pfaff is a con man and we can right the wrong that happened in April. Get rid of this carpetbagger!”
“Mr. Pfaff’s history clearly shows he is committed to politics. He is proud of his behavior and being against nice. He clearly is unaware that he is regarded even lower than the media and actual politicians.”
“I would be more than happy to support this effort financially. The current council is a disgrace and has done nothing for the benefit of the city or its citizens. It is full of “tear down the government” types who put their juvenile ideologies first, and the business of the city a distant second. I have the utmost respect for city employees and believe it’s a disgrace how council members treat them.”
“The city’s charter states: “ Section 3.15 – Compulsory Attendance and Conduct at Meetings The mayor shall enforce orderly conduct at meetings and any member of the Council or other officer who shall fail to conduct himself in an orderly manner at any meeting shall be deemed guilty of misconduct in office. It’s time to put pressure on the mayor to enforce misconduct. Pfaff is an embarrassment to this city.”
“City Council Meetings have become an embarrassment to our community. It is unfortunate that Mayor Carr has no leadership skills and clearly is aligned with Mr. Pfaff.”
“A gypsy has infiltrated our town. Our beautiful mountain town will be destroyed if Jim Pfaff gets his way and eliminates our zoning laws.”
“This guy is a problem for our community. He thrives in creating a hostile environment and chaos with other elected officials. He is as unprofessional as they come. He thinks he is a tough guy from DC or Denver etc. No wonder his campaigns in Indiana were unsuccessful.”
“When has Pfaff ever spoken with his constituency? He is an outsider who is trying to impose his outsider views on us. Let’s get rid of him and anyone else who is not attuned to what ‘We the People’ want.”
“Wow! I just read his LinkedIn page which is a piece of Swiss Cheese with all the holes in it. Seems like Woodland Park is Mr. Pfaff’s next stepping stone and then on to his next fiasco. No wonder he thinks he can crap all over the place. He obviously has plans to move on. Otherwise, why does he continue to live in trailer in a campground?”
“I had to submit two forms of evidence when I received my Colorado Driver’s License. Why don’t candidates for City Council need to do the same? Something is wrong that Jim Pfaff will not provide proof positive that he was a resident of Woodland Park as required by law. He must think he is above the law.”
“The entire City Council needs to show professionalism. It also appears that some council members are being muted and cutoff. I suspect that may be against the rules.”
“Man I’ve had some epic arguments with that guy. He’s a carpetbagger and ideologue for sure. Thinks he’s God’s gift to Woodland Park, and we should all be in awe of his experience. Yet I haven’t heard one single good constructive idea come out of his mouth. He also has no idea what it means to ‘earn the right to be heard.’ Just thinks if he shouts enough, we’ll all back down. Oh and FYI … the ‘business’ he says he and his wife are building? It’s an Herbalife MLM distributorship.”
“I’m happy to hear this guy is being scrutinized. I don’t know a lot about him but from everything I have seen, he seems like an ass and an idiot, along with a couple more.”
“This is outstanding! Looking forward to seeing where it goes.”
“Last night’s debacle of a City Council meeting was an exemplary sample of the growing discord within the Chamber. Jim Pfaff’s influence is that of a volatile accelerant feeding fuel to the fire.”
“It was clearly evident in the 3 December Council meeting that, although spears were flying from all sides, disparaging remarks from Council Men were more accepted than those from Council Women. Apparently, it is okay for the men to disparage the women but not the other way around. It came to a head when the Mayor, Mr. Val Carr, Zoom-muted the Mayor Pro Tem, Ms. Hilary LaBarre, forcing her to vote with hand gestures. Of course, no amount of disparaging remarks are acceptable in a professional environment; however, the gender difference was notable once the circus side-show was underway.”
“Mr. Pfaff reiterated during the 3 December Council meeting that he supports the elimination of all zoning ordinances. As a homeowner and taxpayer in Woodland Park, I find this concept abhorrent. Smart city planning, with proper zoning, will contribute to the future vitality of this community.”
“Councilman Pfaff wrought havoc within the Colorado State GOP, creating significant discord within the party. After observing his contributions to the Woodland Park City Council for several months, it appears he has exacted the same influence on the local Council. Last night’s meeting revealed the Council’s dysfunction in full effect.”
“Mr. Pfaff’s absolutism for cutting taxes goes too far. As a taxpayer in Woodland Park, I don’t mind supporting a swimming pool that I don’t use simply because it makes our community a better place to live. This is true with many of our publicly funded ventures. I consider myself a fiscal conservative, and I appreciate carefully made funding decisions; however, blanket efforts to reduce taxes simply for the argument of ‘reducing taxes’ is short sighted and unfounded. Give me a break. I’d rather see smart decisions based on sound economic advice rather than shoot-from-the-hip tax cuts.”
“The reputation of City Council is of utmost importance for gaining the trust of the community. Unfortunately, the Council is rapidly devolving into a laughingstock and losing the vital trust of the people. Mr. Pfaff’s most notable contribution to the city thus far is the infection of malevolence now spreading through the Council.”
“I am wholeheartedly in favor of giving Pfaff the boot from Council, Bristlecone, Woodland Park, Teller County, and Colorado. He has more than amply demonstrated his toxic nature, which sadly may explain much of his appeal to his local fellow travelers.”
“I do try to take the time to watch the City Council meetings and I am very disgusted by how Pfaff demeans, bullies, and disregards his fellow City Council members and the Citizens of Woodland Park. It is time to stop him from pushing his own agendas and what he believes are his righteous ways on us. Even more hurtful is that Mayor Carr lets Pfaff have the power of the mic while displaying these antics. Shame on you Mayor Carr. So many of the meetings have turned into a shit show and just make my stomach turn. So embarrassing! Why should I bother wasting my time watching the meetings? Well, I care and love this community, work and volunteer here, raised my family here and am an employee of the City. In a nutshell, Councilman Pfaff needs to go!”
“I have been watching in AMAZEMENT that our counsel will not stop this MADNESS!! Actually, it’s the Mayor’s position to control the counsel and he will not lift a finger against Mr. Pfaff. They think alike! I think he IS NOT A RESIDENT, PERIOD. This creep that moves from town to town trying to change many great things in the community. And Val Carr Please, He can’t control the Counsel at all he just sits and watches the madness take place. I have said many times why won’t someone stand up AT COUNSEL and say NO more Bullying and disrespect. Who is this guy who lives in a van by the river? Ha. Transient Trouble maker I would say has no business on counsel.”
